School board approves purchases, gifts

The Washington County Board of Education on Tuesday voted 5-0 to approve the following items:

o Spend $48,125 to purchase 55 emergency alert systems from Alertus Technologies LLC of Beltsville, Md.

o Spend $48,240 to purchase an automotive frame straightening system for Washington County Technical High School.

o Accept a $6,823 gift from the Giant Foods A+ Rewards Program. The money will be used to offset expenses in North Hagerstown High School's extracurricular athletic program.

o Accept a $5,268.94 gift from the Leonard P. Snyder Fund. The money will be used to purchase materials for Clear Spring Elementary School.
