Elsie Virginia Miller, 90, of Mount Aetna Road in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, July 16, 2010, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born Thursday, April 1, 1920, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John R. Williams and Blanche R. Shilling Williams.

She graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1939.

She was employed by Fairchild for 19 years, retiring in 1983.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

She was past president of AARP and TRIAD. She also was a member of Pocahontas, Odd Fellows and Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara A. Lease and husband, John, of Hagerstown; one son, Rodney L. Miller and wife, Christine, of Bedington, W.Va.; one sister, Dorothy B. Potter of Waynesboro, Pa.; five grandchildren, G. Gregory Hammersla, John R. Hammersla, Miranda I. Toston, Nathaniel D. Lease and Raymond Miller; two stepgrandchildren, Rachael Farris and Andrea Repp; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Aleaha and Frances Hammersla, Cyrus Toston, and Joselyn Miller; and one stepgreat-grandchild, Gabriel Repp.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy W. Long; her second husband, Eber R. Miller; one daughter, Dixie L. Hammersla; and three brothers, Charles L., George P. and John F. Williams.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Edward Heim officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 20, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
