E. Foster Schooley, 75

Everett, Pa. - E. Foster Schooley, 75, of Pennknoll Village, and formerly of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away Friday, July 16, 2010.

Born Oct. 21, 1934, in Harrisonville, Pa., he was the son of the late Vernon and Bertha (Hanks) Schooley.

On June 18, 1961, at Jerusalem Christian Church, he married W. Mae (McKee) Schooley, who survives along with their children, Amelia Schooley of Everett, Earl F. Schooley Jr. and wife, Michele, of Harrisburg, Pa., and Perry Schooley and wife, Tiffany, of Warfordsburg; two brothers, Allen Schooley and wife, Jean, of Bedford, Pa., and Leroy Schooley of Cumberland, Md.; and four grandchildren, Isaac, Kateline, Wesley and Isaiah.

He was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Kenna Michele; an infant sister, Martha Adeline Schooley; and one sister, Marvalene Schooley.

Mr. Schooley was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church and previously served on the board of directors for the Church of God in Lebanon, Pa., and Frederick, Md.

He was a graduate of McConnellsburg High School, class of 1954, and Shippensburg State Teachers College, class of 1959.

He first taught at Southern Fulton County High School, founding their first library, later teaching at Lebanon High School, and for nearly 20 years, was a teacher at Everett Christian Academy. He then taught classes at Abbie Business Institute in Frederick, later working for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Rockville, Md., the Department of Energy in Germantown, Md., DESCOM at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa., and then worked with Naval Medical Logistics at Fort Detrick until retiring in March 2000.

Foster received many awards for his honorable work and several outstanding teacher awards. He was a gentleman who was caring, quiet and humble, with a great sense of humor whose words were worth listening to, and will be greatly missed for his kind ways.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Christian Church, with the Rev. Delmas Bard officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in Jerusalem Christian Cemetery.
