Editor's note: Millions of dollars worth of road projects are under way in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and southcentral Pennsylvania. Drivers will find themselves navigating through detours and delays. The Herald-Mail will run this feature regularly on Mondays this summer and into the fall to get motorists ready for the start of the work week. Here is what to anticipate on the roads this week.

West Virginia

o Beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Poor House Road at Secretariet Lane in Berkeley County will be closed to replace a large box culvert. The closure will remain in effect until 5 p.m. on Thursday. The detour for the project will be Arden-Nollville Road (Route 30) and Tuscarora Pike (Route 15)

o Work continues in Berkeley County on widening U.S. 11 south of W.Va. 45 to Pikeside to three lanes. Beginning at 6 p.m. today, contractors might begin a 12-hour overnight paving schedule that will end at 6 a.m. Motorists could be confined to one traffic lane. Work also is slated to continue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with similar lane restrictions.

o Hostler Road, after reopening last week in Jefferson County, is expected to be maintained with flaggers as work continues on the new four-lane project for W.Va. 9.

o Bloomery Road in Jefferson County is closed to through traffic, effective Friday, about two miles north of the road's intersection with W.Va. 9 until further notice for construction of the new four-lane route for W.Va. 9. Alternate routes are existing W.Va. 9 and U.S. 340.

o Expect to encounter a detour on Rowe Run Road in Greene Township as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation does paving.

o Talhelm Road in Antrim Township could be closed for replacement of a box culvert. Township road crews will be replacing drain tiles on the road as well.

o Quincy Township, Pa., crews will be finishing work on Furnace Road, where water lines are being installed.
