CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - Ned Brant Elliott, 84, of Circleville, Ohio, died July 15, 2010, at Brown Memorial.

He was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Hagerstown, Md., the son of the late Brant and Louise (Fiery) Elliott.

He was a World War II veteran, drafted from high school to U.S. Army Signal Corps, serving in France and Germany. With the help of the GI Bill, ROTC and a Johns Hopkins University scholarship, he attained a chemical engineering degree. He served 17 months service stateside in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was hired by DuPont at the Buffalo facility for manufacturing assignments including cellophane and Mylar, prior to the Circleville startup. He transferred to Wilmington, Del., and accepted a 5-year Dupont Luxembourg assignment with family benefits such as two first-class ocean liner trips to and from Europe, five two-week ski vacations in Austrian Alps and lots of European sightseeing trips. He accepted the Circleville transfer in 1972.

He was a downhill skier until age 82, and an avid golfer with only one hole-in-one.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Catlin) Elliott; children, Sharry, Doug, Todd and Louise; grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Aurelia, Amedeo and Jacob; and brothers, Dean, Merle, Ralph and Ray.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville, with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, with military graveside service.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or to Johns Hopkins Endowment Fund, Baltimore, MD.
