Awards for curb appeal

The Highlight Hagerstown Awards, sponsored by the Hagerstown Beautification Advisory Committee (HBAC), have been designed to show appreciation to those who have worked to beautify their property. This annual recognition focuses on those who have contributed to boosting the curb appeal of the City of Hagerstown. Beautification efforts can vary from landscaping to facade improvements. Hagerstown residents and businesses are eligible.

Nominations are being accepted through Friday, July 30. Winners will be announced at a future mayor and council session. The application and additional information is available on the city's website at http://www.hagerstownmd.org or by contacting the City of Hagerstown Planning Department at 301-739-8577, ext. 138.

Women's conference scheduled

MONT ALTO, Pa. -The 18th annual Cumberland Valley Women's Conference will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, at Penn State Mont Alto. Sponsored by Penn State Mont Alto, Shippensburg University and Wilson College, conference organizers are calling for presenters and exhibitors.

The conference, themed Be Well, Live Well, Stay Well this year, is for women of all ages. Organizers are calling for workshop proposals related to all aspects of health including, wellness, body, mind and spirit; aging; relationships; spirituality; financial and family issues; or any other subject that will support the promotions of women's health locally, nationally or globally. Proposals to present at the conference must be received no later than Monday, Aug. 30. All applicants will be notified by Sept. 13 about the status of their proposal.
