Antrim Township issues two-week ban on open burning

July 15, 2010

GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- Antrim Township has issued a ban on open burning, township Administrator Brad Graham announced Thursday morning.

Residents are asked to refrain from any open burning, which includes any fire not in a furnace or incinerator.

The ban will be in effect for two weeks, Graham said in a news release. The township's board of supervisors will review the ban at its next meeting, and could extend the ban indefinitely if conditions have not improved, the release said.

The township's fire hazard rating is "very high," according to the release.
