The Washington County Sheriff's Office on Thursday released a sketch of a suspect in several burglaries, including one Wednesday in the 1800 block of Abbey Lane in Hagerstown.

Police believe two other burglaries are connected to the Abbey Road incident, Cpl. Greg Alton said Thursday. One of the burglaries occurred on Day Road and the other was being investigated by Hagerstown Police, Alton said.

Alton said investigators believe the cases are tied to another incident, where a woman was assaulted while she was walking on Landis Road. Abbey Lane, Day Road and Landis Road are off Dual Highway north of Interstate 70.

Anyone with information about the suspect may call the sheriff's department at 240-313-2172.

The burglary on Abbey Lane occurred when a woman living there said she awoke to a noise inside her home and discovered that an unknown man had forced entry into the residence, said police, who were notified at about 12:20 a.m.

The intruder physically assaulted her, then fled on foot, police said.
