John Nevin Cook, 84, of Hagerstown, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 15, 1926, in Halfway, Md., he was the son of the late John Milton and Anna (Martin) Cook of Halfway.
John served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1948 during World War II in the European Theater. Mr. Cook attended local schools. He was employed as a pattern maker with Pangborn Corp. for 28 years. He was the owner of John N. Cook-Builder, retiring in 1993.
John was a faithful member of Maranatha Brethren Church, where he served as head of the building committee, head usher and trustee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean (Mentzer) Cook; a daughter, Barbara Jean Miller and husband John of Falling Waters, W.Va.; a son, Barry Steven Cook and wife Darcy of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two grandsons, Jason Murphy and companion Christine Lepine of Martinsburg, W.Va., and John Talison Cook of Santa Barbara; a stepgrandson, Corris Randall of Austin, Texas; three great-grandsons, Elijah Grey Murphy, Caleb Randall and Sam Randall; and a great-granddaughter, Violet Randall.
