Bike event is Saturday

The third annual Williamsport Bike Nite roars into downtown Williamsport on Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m.

Live on stage will be One Time Deal with Justin Parks. Special guests, bike builders Savage Cycles, will be on hand. The event includes food, vendors and raffles.

A poker run will benefit the Abilities Network.

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. at the Williamsport Water Tower on South Conococheague Street; first bikes out at 2 p.m. Cost is $10 per person.

Volunteers are needed.

Downsville Ruritan to hold chicken barbecue

Downsville Ruritan will hold a chicken barbecue Saturday, starting at 11 a.m., at the Downsville Community Center (old Downsville School).


The menu includes one-half chicken with baked beans, applesauce and roll. The meal costs $5.50. Cost for a whole chicken is $7.

Vacation Bible School set at Calvary Temple

Calvary Temple, at 147 S. Conococheague St., will hold its Vacation Bible School July 19 to 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. The theme is "Hero Headquarters." It will include crafts, food and Bible story heroes. The event is for those ages 4 to 18.

Angel Food ordering time

Angel Food orders will be taken Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 30 E. Salisbury St., in the Fellowship Hall.

Payment is made at the time of ordering. To order online, go to and follow the Angel Food links or call 301-582-3454. The program is open to everyone.

Walnut Towers residents can order Wednesday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Potomac Towers residents can order today from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Upcoming events scheduled in town

o Conococheague Little League's River City Classic begins Saturday and continues through July 24 in Byron Memorial Park.

o Join friends and neighbors for National Night Out Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The crime/drug prevention evening in Byron Memorial Park features on-site police cruiser, fire and EMS units, SWAT truck, petting zoo, swimming, food, monster truck rides and rock climbing wall. Life Net 81 and the DEA plan to land their helicopters.

o Williamsport Days runs from Aug. 26 to 29 with events planned throughout the town. Enjoy the crafts in Byron Memorial Park on Aug. 28 and 29.
