Mr. William "John" Hanlin (Chuckles), 21, of Myersville, Md., passed away Friday, July 9, 2010, in Frederick, Md.

Born July 15, 1988, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late William A. Hanlin, and Annette Oakes Hanlin Cooney and husband Matthew of Myersville. He played football for the Walkersville Lions and Linganore Lancers.

John loved animals, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Carol "Lumpy" and Ralph Oakes of Frederick; paternal grandparents, Judy and Charles "Chuck" Hanlin; aunt, Tammy Jenkins and husband Ronnie; uncle, Christopher Hanlin; cousins, Joey and Amanda Jenkins, Zachary Cooney and Cody Starner; and many great-aunts and great-uncles. He also will be remembered by his nonmaternal brothers, Ronnie Eckenrode and Chris Kraus.

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Wednesday, July 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Thursday, July 15, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. David Coakley officiating.


Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Jenkins, Zach Cooney, Cody Starner, Shaun Naill, Everette Estes, Jason Estes, Ronnie Eckenrode, John Hopkins, Matthew Metzger, Travis Lyles, Dwayne Mills and Chris Queen.

Contributions may be made to the William John Hanlin Memorial Fund, c/o Stauffer Funeral Home, at the above address.

Interment will be private.
