SHARPSBURG, Md. - Gene William Tarmon, 91, of Sharpsburg, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 15, 1919, in Middleburg, Va., and was the son of the late Everett Tarmon and Virginia Glasscock Tarmon.

He was a retired truck driver with Millers Chemical Co. in Charles Town, W.Va.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by two daughters, Janie Knotts of Sharpsburg and Genell Silvius of Georgia; seven sons, Roy S. Tarmon of Sharpsburg, Donald Tarmon of Gerrardstown, W.Va., Carl Tarmon, Timmy Tarmon and Freddie Tarmon, all of Charles Town, and Ronnie Tarmon and David Tarmon both of Pennsylvania; one brother, Nelson Tarmon of Charles Town; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Agnes Pierson, Annabelle Kerns and Lillian Woodard; and two brothers, Arra Tarmon and Jesse Tarmon.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Samples Manor Cemetery in Samples Manor, Md., with Pastor Ernie Witmer officiating.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
