MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A man has been charged with fleeing from police while driving under the influence in a pursuit that began in Jefferson County and ended near Stonebridge Golf Club in Berkeley County, according to court records.

Ralph Nelson Driggers, 48, was arraigned Saturday by Berkeley County Magistrate Harry L. Snow on one felony count of fleeing while DUI, and misdemeanor counts of DUI, driving revoked for DUI, traveling left of center, reckless driving, obstructing an officer, refusal to provide fingerprints and littering, according to magistrate court records.

Driggers' address was listed as 52 Litchfield Lane West in Martinsburg on his bail agreement, but a complaint filed against him by West Virginia State Police Trooper T.S. Perry lists his address as 3920 South Mountain Road, Knoxville, Md. His license was revoked in Maryland for failure to appear, according to court records.

The pursuit began along Shenandoah Junction Road at 8:54 p.m. Friday when Perry noticed a red Isuzu pickup traveling left of center, according to court records. After the driver failed to stop, the pursuit continued on W.Va. 9, then onto Needy Road and Dunrobin Drive before the vehicle stopped along Litchfield Lane, according to court records.

The littering charges stem from Perry's observation that the driver threw two cigarettes out of the car during the pursuit, according to court records.
