Man injured in fall from rock wall

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- A man in his early 20s fell 35 to 40 feet from a rock wall on River Road around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, according to Bob Burner, Shepherdstown emergency medical services captain.

The man suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to Winchester (Va.) Medical Center, Burner said.

First responders climbed through brush to reach the base of the rocks, he said.

The incident occurred about a half-mile outside Shepherdstown.

The man's name was not available Sunday night.
