Wanted man arrested after standoff

July 11, 2010

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A Chambersburg man wanted by police for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving under the influence was arrested Wednesday after barricading himself in his residence, according to a Franklin County Sheriff's Office press release.

Larry Andrew Freet, 37, of 4477 Gary Way in Chambersburg, surrendered to police about five hours after authorities made contact with him at his mobile home, deputies said.

Freet used mattresses and box springs to barricade himself inside the home and the window blinds were closed and black plastic was used to further limit any light from inside the residence, deputies said.

While looking for Freet, police discovered that Freet previously had been incarcerated and was on state parole, deputies said.
