QUINCY, Pa. - Mr. Russell L. Blickenstaff, 90, of Cottage 104-B Quincy Village, Quincy, Pa., died at 5:59 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, Pa. He had been in failing health for the past nine weeks and critically ill for the past two weeks.

Born Dec. 8, 1919, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Ralph O. and Hattie M. (Dick) Blickenstaff.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, as an infantryman in the European Theater.

Mr. Blickenstaff was employed by Fairchild Aircraft for more than 41 years, where he was known for building model airplanes and as a carpenter.

He was a member of Quincy United Methodist Church, Quincy.

Mr. Blickenstaff enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, golfing, fishing, hunting, waterskiing and boating.

He is survived by one daughter, Connie L. Barnhart of Smithsburg, Md.; one granddaughter, Pamela S. Kint of New Portland, Maine; one great-grandson, G. Jason Miller of Thurmont, Md.; one great-great-grandson, Derrik Miller of Thurmont; one stepgreat-great-grandson, Brandon Ball of Thurmont; one sister, Jane Finniff of Hagerstown; and a number of nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret R. (Hoffman) Blickenstaff; his second wife, Lydia (Purdham) Blickenstaff; and two sisters, Mary Ridenour and Leah Dobbins.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with the Revs. Ruth and Harold Hollister, officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
