HAGERSTOWN -- A public hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday on a proposal to relocate part of Old Forge Road, Washington County spokesman Norman Bassett said in a press release.

Cement company Holcim Inc. approached the county about the road relocation to make way for potential future expansion, county Public Works Director Joseph Kroboth III has said.

The cement company would convey all necessary rights of way for the relocated road to the county and perform all construction, to the county's satisfaction, at no cost to county taxpayers, Kroboth said.

As part of a deal negotiated between Holcim and the county, the cement company also would donate land for a county project to extend Eastern Boulevard and, depending on timing, could be required to build part of that Eastern Boulevard extension project, he said.

The hearing will be held during the Washington County Commissioners' meeting in room 227 of the County Administration Building at 100 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown.
