Electronic recycling event open to W.Va. residents, businesses

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Berkeley County's final electronic recycling event for 2010, which is scheduled for July 17, is open to West Virginia businesses and residents, according to the Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority.

Items to be recycled will be accepted at the South Berkeley Recycling Center, at 637 Pilgram St. in Inwood, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Items that will be accepted include answering machines, camcorders, compact disc players, copiers, cell phones, duplicators, electronic typewriters, fax machines, hard drives, laptops, mainframe computers, mobile phones, modems, pagers, personal computers (including CPU, monitors, keyboards, mouse and other peripherals), printers, printed circuit boards, radios, remote controls, stereos, tape players, telephones, telephone equipment, televisions, test equipment, transparency makers, uninterruptible power supplies, VCRs and word processors.

The items will be accepted regardless of age, condition or manufacturer.

Smoke detectors and thermostats will not be accepted.

Participants with more than 25 units should call 304-267-9370 to schedule delivery arrangements.
