Employee assaulted during armed robbery at 7-Eleven

FREDERICK, Md. -- A man entered the 7-Eleven store at 501 N. East St., struck a store employee in the head with a handgun and ordered the worker to empty cash into a backpack during a robbery Thursday morning, police said.

The suspect fled on foot following the 4:19 a.m. robbery and was not apprehended, according to the Frederick Police Department.

The suspect was described as a black man in his mid-20s, about 6 feet tall with a medium build, police said. He was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, white mask, gray or tan shorts and black shoes. He was carrying a red bandanna and showed a silver handgun, police said.
