Hagerstown streets to close Saturday for bicycle race

July 08, 2010

The Hagerstown Challenge Criterium cycling race is July 10 in the north end of Hagerstown. The race route loops around portions of Woodland Way, West Irvin Avenue, West Hillcrest Road, The Terrace and Park Lane.

During the event, no through traffic or on-street parking will be allowed on these streets. The Hagerstown Police Department and race organizers will direct traffic around the race route. Local traffic will be allowed to use these streets to access their residences under the direction of the police officers.

Motorists approaching the race route should expect to encounter police officers, barricades, cones, and temporary detour signs. Traffic delays are likely, and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes away from the race area.

The race begins at 7 a.m., and is scheduled to be completed by 4:30 p.m. All streets should be reopened to traffic by 6 p.m.
