Power give Suns a jolt of their own

The Hagerstown Suns took the first two games of a four-game series against West Virginia but the Power drew even even with a 7-2 decision at Municipal Stadium on Wednesday.

The game was played with Minor League Baseball commissioner Pat O'Conner in attendance.

Hagerstown jumped off to a 1-0 start in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Justin Bloxom.

After scoring in the second inning, West Virginia took a 3-1 lead in the third when David Rubenstein singled and scored when Aaron Baker hit his 12th home run of the year.

The Suns closed to within 3-2 with a run in the third on a triple by Eury Perez and RBI-grounder by Jeff Kobernus.

The Power put the game out of reach with two in the eighth and a single tally in the ninth.

Josh Smoker (1-9) took the loss for the Suns while Phillip Irwin (4-1) went seven innings for the win.

Hagerstown begins a five-game road series at Greenville before returning home July 14.
