The eve of June 30 not only brought out the vampires and werewolves, but their die-hard fans as well.

The third installment of the Twilight Saga, "Eclipse" premiered last week in theaters nationwide with special midnight showings at select theaters. The most dedicated fans, or "Twihards" as they have been dubbed, prepared for a late evening of excitement, adventure and true love as they flocked to movie theaters to be among the first to see the film.

The best-selling book series by Stephenie Meyer first came to the big screen with "Twilight" in 2008 and created a phenomenal worldwide fan base. In 2009, the film "New Moon" was released, complete with midnight showings and extremely high expectations for Hollywood's most popular cast.

"My friend from middle school told me about the books and how awesome Edward was," said Gracie Kober, 16, who traveled from Waynesboro, Pa., to Gettysburg, Pa., to be a part of the midnight showing.

"I started reading the books and have now read all of them," she said.

Kober also noted that she had attended the premiere for each of the previous Twilight movies, but this one was significantly different.

"This one had more people, more crazy fans, and more guys," she said.

Nick Bailey, 16, of Waynesboro, admitted that it was his obsessed sisters who got him into the books and movies.

"I've seen them all (the movies) but I didn't see the first one on its premiere night," he said. "I'm also excited to see all of the crazy fan girls."

Many female fans showed their dedication and love for the movies by showing off their homemade T-shirts and other clothing items that definitely made a statement, such as vampire-themed underwear over jean shorts.

At Gettysburg Cinema, there were lines out the door hours before the premiere, full of fans wanting to purchase tickets or even to get a good seat. Five theaters were opened for the premiere, and almost every single seat was filled.

Many of the female fans especially were excited to see Jacob Black, portrayed by 18-year-old Taylor Lautner, because he would appear shirtless multiple times throughout the movie. At each scene, fans would scream with approval.

Through it all, the "Twilight mania" comes down to one question it poses for its fans; are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?

"I'm definitely Team Jacob," Kober said.

"I'm Team Edward," said Bailey.
