Clear Spring teacher wins ag award

CLEAR SPRING - Teresa T. Shank, an agricultural educator at Clear Spring High School, was named the 2010 Maryland winner of the Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher Award given by the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE), according to an NAAE press release.

Shank will compete against award winners from surrounding states to be named the 2010 NAAE Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher for Region VI, according to the release. Regional winners will receive personal use of a Toyota Tundra pickup truck for two years, an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the 2010 NAAE convention in Las Vegas and an invitation to a special awards dinner.

Award winners are agricultural educators who are at the pinnacle of their careers and conducting the highest quality agricultural education programs, according to the release. The award recognizes leadership in civic, community and professional activities. Award winners are innovators and catalysts for student success in agricultural education, according to the release.

The NAAE Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher Award program is sponsored by Toyota as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.

NAAE is the professional association for agricultural educators and is based in Lexington, Ky.
