James H. "Jim" Robison, 72

James H. "Jim" Robison, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many, 72, of Hagerstown, surrounded by his loving wife and family, passed from this life after a courageous battle with cancer and entered into his heavenly home on July 4, 2010.

Born Jan. 22, 1938, in Green Springs, W.Va., James was the son of the late Mildred Louise Rockwell Robison Hose and Jesse James Robison.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley B. Robison, in April 1997, and by his son James "Jimmy" Robison Jr. on Oct. 4, 1960.

Jim has been employed by Washington County Hospital for the past 22 years as a parking garage attendant, a job where he was fondly and frequently referred to as the "nice man with a welcoming smile."

James served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of The Improved Order of Red Men, Conococheague Tribe 84, AMVETS Post 10 and served as a board member for 12 years with the Shirley B. Robison Memorial Fund.

Jim is survived by his second wife, Jeanette "Debbie" Robison, whom he married May 15, 1999. He is also survived by his daughters and their husbands, Vicky and David Yates, Jessie and Richard Kretzer, Jewel and Steve Collins, Jamie and James "Jim" Cannon, all of Hagerstown, and Janice and Michael Crawford of Falling Waters, W.Va.; grandson, James Aleshire, whom he raised, of Hagerstown; his stepchildren, Donald Jordan and Tina Dagenhart, both of Hagerstown. In addition, his other beloved grandchildren, Kristin Aleshire, Derek and Brett Kretzer, Erica Wallech, Brittany and Corey Collins, Jordan Cannon and Rori Daughtridge, and Felecia and Colton Dagenhart; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.

Jim was a member of Grace Brethren Church for many years, where he was baptized. He later attended Tri-State Fellowship Church.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Hose; his father, Jesse Robison; and his sisters, Ruth Riddell Weber, Mary Jean Seibert and Janet Mowery.

Services will be held at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, Md., on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at 10 a.m.

Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, July 7, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Jim will be most remembered for his love and devotion to family, enjoyment of social gathering along his favorite place at the Potomac River, and the way he lived life showing kindness to others.
