Total losses for the week were 40 1/4 pounds. The best TOPS losers were Valarie Eccard and Edna Jones. The best KOPD losers were Mary Jo Kemper, Dina Norris, Cindy Ryder and Dorothy Smith. TOPS Get R Done was won by Faye Ritzman and Jean Betker won for KOPS. The No-No is chips and Joan Budny won the Ha! Ha! Next week's meeting will be held on Tuesday and it is a "No Gain" week.The new contest for July will be "Blasting Away the Pounds."Dina Norris gave her KOPS Kitty to Pauline.Betker presented the program "Overrated and Underrated Foods." Congratulations to Linda, the newest KOPS member, as well as to Mary, this week's Thinner Winner, and Ruth, a close runner-up. The group was happy to see Frankie back, and to welcome Jean, a visitor. The net loss was 13.8 pounds. Joann Pi.was the Ha-Ha box winner.


The leader announced a new contest to run through the end of September. The goal is to lose 15 pounds during the next three months.

During the group's program, several members shared pictures of and information about their families, or talked about their interests and hobbies. Mary's daughter, Mary, sang a solo. Next week, Marie will present a program called "Naturally Thin," about losing weight without dieting.

Meetings are held on Wednesdays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with weigh-in at 8:45a.m., at Shiloh United Methodist church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road, Hagerstown. For more information, call Mary or Tom at 301-797-2547, or Judy at 301-739-9279.

Longmeadow Lions

The featured program at the Longmeadow Lions Club meeting Thursday will be Justin Mayhue and his son Philip. Justin is a local author,Civil War re-enactor and Antietam National Battlefield tour guide. Philip is following in Justin's shoes -- only his interest is in the World War II period. Philip has been compiling an extensive listing of WWII veterans and recording their interviews. They will be presenting highlights of some of the veterans' experiences. Those interested in attending the meeting should contact Secretary Talbert at 301-729-2815 by Tuesday for reservations.
