July 6 - Art Callaham, executive director of the Greater Hagerstown Committee, will present a program titled "Lees' Incursion to the North."

Eyeglass collection

Lion Watson reported that the most recent eyeglass collection effort brought in 41 pairs of glasses, 335 lenses and one case. Reporting on the yearly total, Lion Don listed 2,311 pairs of glasses, 6,449 lenses, 683 cases, 14 frames and 19 hearing aids. Until an alternative source of receipt of eyeglasses is located, the collection of these items will be discontinued.

Free outdoor family movie at library

The Washington County Free Library will show "Free Willie: Escape From Pirate's Cove" (rated PG) Friday at dusk. Movies are shown in the library's side parking lot. Please bring your own chairs. Free popcorn and drinks available. No rain date!

N1st Locust Point block party a success

Locust Point community cookbook

If you want your recipe to appear in the book with your name, in memory of a loved one, as an employee of a local business or as a member of a local place of worship, you must submit your recipes by Thursday, July 15.

Free movie night

''Garfield" will be shown Friday at Grace United Methodist Church at 712 Church St., at dusk, in the parking lot if the weather permits. If not, it will be held indoors. Please bring your own lawn chairs or blankets. Hot dogs, popcorn, shaved ice and sodas will be free to all visitors.

Free outdoor family movie at Doub's Woods

Parents can relive the childhood adventure feeling with their own children at Washington County Movie Night. "The Goonies" will light up the inflatable big screen at Doub's Woods Park Friday, July 30, as you and your children relax on a blanket or lawn chair. The theater opens at 7:30 p.m. and the movie begins at dark. Admission is free. Bring your own seating. Use the Maryland Avenue entrance to the park. Picnic coolers are permitted. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The event is sponsored by the Washington County Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department.
