Chambersburg man charged with robbing a man at knifepoint

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -- A Chambersburg, Pa., man has been charged with robbing a man at knifepoint last month, Pennsylvania State Police in Fulton County said.

David A. Hippensteel, 26, no address given, was charged with first-, second- and third-degree robbery, misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, theft, simple assault and receiving stolen property, and two summary counts of harassment, police said.

At 10:45 p.m. June 24, an unidentified 26-year-old Limerick, Pa., man was walking on Lincoln Way East when he was approached from behind by a man who hit him on the shoulder, threatened him with a knife and demanded money, police said. The man took $75 from the victim, police said.

Hippensteel was taken into custody later that night, police said. On June 25, he was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott and jailed in Franklin County Jail on $30,000 bail, police said.

Pa. State Police investigating burglary at Lions Park Ball Fields

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -- A burglary at the Lions Park Ball Fields last month was being investigated by Pennsylvania State Police in Fulton County.

A storage building was broken into between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 6 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Several boxes of candy valued at $150 were stolen and damage to the door was estimated at $400, police said.

New Jersey man charged with DUI after two-vehicle crash

NEEDMORE, Pa. -- A New Jersey man was charged with driving under the influence following a two-vehicle crash Friday night on Buck Valley Road in Bethel Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Fulton County.

Robert Wayne Smith, 50, of Malaga, N.J., was driving a Nissan Xterra east at high speed when it struck a Ford Ranger that was making a left turn into Phantom Fireworks, police said. Smith and the driver of the Ranger, Michael Farrell, 59, of Washington, D.C., had minor injuries, police said.

Smith was charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and several traffic violations, police said.
