WILLIAMSPORT -- Clear Spring ran into a buzzsaw Friday in the winners' bracket semifinals of the Maryland District 1 Junior Tournament.

Tyler Martin allowed only two hits in four innings and Casey Shank drove in four runs for Conococheague in a 14-0 rout of Clear Spring, which was coming off of a bye.

Conococheague was held scoreless in the first as its offense warmed up. It scored three runs in the second, highlighted by an RBI triple from Zach Hopkins and an RBI double by Emory Rowland.

"We had a little bit of a slow start to the game," said Conococheague manager Jamie Martin. "But once we got it going it was on."

By the third inning, Conococheague had a full head of steam, scoring eight runs in the frame, punctuated by Shank's two-run line drive over the fence in center field.

"I knew it was over as soon as it left the bat," said Shank, who knocked in Brandon Toloso with the home run. "You've just got to stay calm and don't think, just drive the ball."

Three straight doubles by Tristan Baker, Hopkins and Rowland put Conococheague up 10-0. Hopkins ended the night a home run shy of the cycle and scored three runs.

Tyler Martin was a workhorse on the mound, finishing with five strikeouts and two walks. Jordan Buchanan pitched a scoreless fifth to close it out despite issuing three free passes.

"I started out a little rough, but I found my groove," said Martin. "I had a lot of focus, but I have to thank my defense more than anything."

Jamie Martin is keeping his dugout in high spirits, and his mantra is paying dividends.

"I've got to keep them loose and having fun," said Martin. "If we get baserunners any way we can and knock them in while our defense makes the plays, we're going to go far in this tournament."

Conococheague will host Valley in the winners' bracket final Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Clear Spring travels to Maugansville for an elimination game Monday at 5:30.
