  • The Hagerstown Fairgrounds Softball Association presented a check for $7,500 to the Nick Adenhart Foundation prior to Friday's All-Star game at Halfway Little League. The money was raised through the Nick Adenhart 5K Run held last month. FREDERICK, Md. -- Ty Benson drove home six runs on a triple and an inside the park home run to lead Funkstown Post 211 past Berkeley Post 14 at the Frederick Wood Bat tournament.

Dwight Boward and Dylan Eyler combined on a four-hitter for Funkstown, who will play Pasadena at 10 on Saturday at McCurdy Field.

Two Hawks earn honors

Recent Hagerstown Community College graduates Julie Becker (volleyball) and Wade Miller (cross country, track) earned NJCAA Academic All-American honors for the 2009-10 school year.

"This is one more indication of the commitment the athletic department at Hagerstown Community College makes to both academic and athletic excellence," said Bo Myers, HCC's athletic director.

Football camp

The Washington County Junior Football League will hold a preseason speed/skills camp led by True Athlete Performance on July 26-30 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Marty L. Snook Park.
