The Lights

Professor and Mrs. John H. Light of Carlisle, Pa., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 24, 2010, with a luncheon at The Hotel Hershey. The Lights were married on June 24, 1950, by the Rev. Dr. J. Edward Harms at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.

Mrs. Light is the former Mary Caroline Edelman of Hagerstown.

John Light, of Annville, Pa., served in World War II, before being named to the Dickinson College faculty in Carlisle. He taught in the math department from 1959 to 1987.

Both enjoy music and travel and are members of the Second Presbyterian Church.

The Lights are the parents of three children: Leslie (Mrs. Joseph Sobel) of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; John, of Lancaster, Pa.; and Rebecca (Mrs. Royce Wingert), of Lititz, Pa. They have six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Everharts

Charles and Garey Everhart of Dargan recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on the Eastern Shore with family.


The Everharts were married June 4, 1960, at Samples Manor Church of God, by the Rev. Harold Beck.

Mr. Everhart is retired from ALCOA-Eastalco in Frederick, Md. Mrs. Everhart was employed at Fahrney Keedy in Boonsboro, and later for Washington County Public Schools when she retired.

They have two sons, Chuck and Bill.

The Hauvers

Rik and Carolyn Hauver of Hagerstown celebrated their 25th anniversary on Friday, March 19, 2010. A dinner was hosted by their son, Michael D. Hauver. The couple had celebrated earlier with a Panama Canal Cruise.

The Hauvers were married on March 19, 1985, at the Coca Palms Resort Hotel in Wailua, Kauai, Hawaii by the Rev. Solomon Kekon.

Mrs. Hauver is a dental hygienist and employed by Frederick Periodontal Associates of Frederick, Md.

Mr. Hauver retired in 2004 from Mack Trucks Inc., and is a pilot for Falcon Air of Hagerstown.
