July 02, 2010|By ANDREW SCHOTZ

Maryland Del. John P. Donoghue filed Wednesday to run for a sixth term.

Donoghue, a Democrat, represents Subdistrict 2C, which roughly matches the boundaries of the City of Hagerstown.

Donoghue is the only Democrat in the race so far. He previously said he would run for re-election.

Republican Cort Meinelschmidt filed in March.

If any other Democrats or Republicans file by Tuesday's deadline, a primary would be Sept. 14.

The general election is Nov. 2.

Maryland delegates serve four-year terms and are paid $43,000 a year.
