Three-year-old child hit by car, is airlifted to D.C.

A 3-year-old was flown to Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C., after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening in the 100 block of West North Avenue in Hagerstown, according to a press release from the Hagerstown Police Department.

The child ran out between two parked cars at about 6:35 p.m. and was struck by a 2006 Nissan Altima that was traveling west, police said.

The driver of the Nissan was not cited.

The child's condition was not available Thursday night.

Authorities said that the child's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, the release said.
