Harold P. "Skip" Kies

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Harold P. "Skip" Kies, of 237 S. First St., McConnellsburg, Pa., was born April 28, 1914, in Hellertown, Pa., son of the late Austin and Ruth Kies.

Skip graduated from Bethlehem (Pa.) High School and Penn State, class of 1940. He was a County agent in Bedford, Pa., and Somerset, Pa. On July 7, 1948, Harold came to Fulton County, Pa., as the first extension agent. He was County agent for 27 years.

Surviving are his wife, Jean; two daughters, Cindy Loungo of Centre Hall, Pa., and Jennifer Lowman of Holmes Beach, Fla.; two sons, Allan of Hustontown, Pa., and William of McConnellsburg; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

During his stay in Fulton County, Harold was active in agricultural and community affairs. He served as president of the Fulton Chamber of Commerce, McConnellsburg Lions Club, Fulton Industrial Development Association, Fulton County Farmers Association and the Fulton County Grange.

Harold was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for 20 years.

There will be no viewing, and a graveside service will be at the convenience of the family.
