WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mrs. Mary Jane (Cline) Weagly, 91, of 511 Clayton Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., died Tuesday morning, June 29, 2010, at her home.

She was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Waynesboro. She was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Ruth W. (Crisswell) Cline.

She was a lifelong resident of Waynesboro.

Mrs. Weagly graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1936, and then received her bachelor of arts degree in Latin from Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa., with the class of 1940.

She and her husband, the late Kenneth D. Weagly, were married June 22, 1946, in Waynesboro. They moved to the Clayton Avenue address in 1956. Mr. Weagly died June 6, 1994.

Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Weagly taught school in the Unionville School District near Philadelphia, and later Northfield School for Girls in Northfield, Mass. After returning to Waynesboro, she did some substitute teaching in Waynesboro.

Mrs. Weagly was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro, where she sang in the church choir, was a lay minister and a lay reader. Mrs. Weagly was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing in churches, at family events, Quincy Nursing Home and at various other events. She was very active in the following organizations: Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, Waynesboro Historical Society and Waynesboro YMCA, where she was a past board member; Wilson College Alumni Association and Waynesboro Country Club, where she was an avid golfer until age 89; Euterpe Music Club, Cumberland Valley School of Music, Franklin County Easter Seal Society, Waynesboro Community Concert Association and Waynesboro United Way, where she served on the board. She was active in the nursing program at Mont Alto Campus of Penn State University and the Daughters of American Revolution. She also enjoyed traveling to various parts of the world, and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies, Penn State and Duke Blue Devils fan.

She is survived by the following: daughter, Victoria C. "Vickie" Weagly and partner, Polly Kuhns, of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; grandson Kenneth T. Weagly of Brooklyn, N.Y.; former daughter-in-law Marsha Weagly Schuster and husband, Glenn, of Upperco, Md.; niece Roberta Brooks of Berkeley, Calif.; and one nephew, Ted Krismann, of Scottsdale, Ariz.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth C. Weagly, who died in 1979; and one sister, Elizabeth Krismann.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Dennis Beaver officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA 17268 or to Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
