CLEAR SPRING - Brinton Donald Keeseman, 76, of 14009 Mercersburg Road, Clear Spring, Md., died Monday, June 28, 2010, at his home.

Born Dec. 31, 1933, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Cleveland and Margaret Myers Keeseman.

He graduated from Shippensburg High School with the class of 1952.

Brinton had the West End Market in Hagerstown in the 1970s and 1980s. He and his wife owned Smithsburg Market and operated it in the 1980s until 1995. Until November, he was still working part time at Smithsburg Market.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Hagerstown.

Brinton is survived by his wife, JoEllen (McKee) Keeseman. They shared the past 23 wonderful years together. He is also survived by a daughter, Doris J. Clauser and her husband, Steve, of Dillsburg, Pa.; a son, Gary B. Keeseman and his wife, Cindy, of Shippensburg, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Sandra (Grove) Pearson and her husband, Chris, of Shippensburg; a stepson, Allen R. Grove and his wife, Maureen, of Smithsburg, Md.; a stepdaughter, Amy Grove of St. Louis, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Sharon (Grove) Blake and her husband, Richard, of Bridgeville, Del.; a brother, Calvin C. Keeseman of Waynesboro, Pa.; four grandchildren; and eight stepgrandchildren.


He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Timothy Murtaugh will officiate. Private burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday two hours before the service.
