Jack Frederick Bonebrake Sr., 81

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Mr. Jack Frederick Bonebrake Sr., 81, of 15185 Maryland Line Road, Greencastle, Pa., died at 3:35 a.m., Monday, June 28, 2010, at his home. He had been in failing health for the last four years and critically ill for the past two weeks.

Born Feb. 23, 1929, in Greencastle, he was the son of the late Horace and Thressa (Etter) Bonebrake. He spent most of his life in the Greencastle area.

Mr. Bonebrake attended Browns Mill Schools.

He and his wife, Delores Gertrude (Miller) Bonebrake, were married on July 2, 1948, in Hagerstown, Md. Mrs. Bonebrake died June 23, 1996.

Mr. Bonebrake was employed as a brakeman and later yard master for the railroad. He worked for the Western Maryland Railroad for more than 42 years.

He was a member of Harry D. Ziegler VFW Post No. 6319, Greencastle, and enjoyed hunting and hunting mushrooms.

Mr. Bonebrake is survived by four daughters: Victoria Daley, Greencastle, Cynthia Everetts, Greencastle, Shelby Bonebrake, Mercersburg, and Cherry Barr, Waynesboro; five sons: Terry Bonebrake, Mercersburg, Allen Bonebrake Sr., Greencastle, Ricky Bonebrake, Greencastle, Jack Bonebrake Jr., Greencastle and Dale Bonebrake, California; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren, three sisters: Sandra Beaver, Greencastle, Sue Luchs, Greencastle and Delores Neuroth, Chambersburg; five brothers: Ronald Bonebrake, Mercersburg, Rodney Bonebrake, Mercersburg, Larry Bonebrake, Chambersburg, Richard Bonebrake, Greencastle and Donald Bonebrake, Greencastle; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Alvin Everetts Jr.; a great-grandson, Hunter Hines; two sisters: Patsy Fisher and Barbara Smith; and a brother, Eugene Bonebrake.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 1, 2010, in Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church, 3664 Coseytown Road, Greencastle, with the Rev. Lester Kauffman and the Rev. John E. Winckler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
