Derwood Bellmont "Dodge" Bousum, 84, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Friday, June 25, 2010, at his home.

Born Thursday, May 20, 1926, in Hollidaysburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Earl Bousum and the late Verna Bousum.

He graduated from Altoona High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946. In 1951, he graduated from Oklahoma State University with a master's degree in business law and business administration.

He was employed with Associates First Capitol Corp., retiring in 1998, after 33 years of service. He was also president of A1 Brick & Sand Co. He was a member of the John Wesley United Methodist Church for more than 30 years and was a member and president of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Suburban Kiwanis for 30 years, Fountain Head Country Club, Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, The Assembly Club, 9 & 90 Club, B.P.O. Elks 378, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts and The Maryland Symphony Orchestra.


Derwood especially enjoyed volunteering at Washington County Hospital for the past 10 years.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnn Bousum; three sisters, Glendolyn Tulowitzki of Orchard Park, N.Y., Jean Stouffer of Altoona, Pa., and Wanda Reid of Orchard Park, N.Y.; one brother, Keller Bousum of Branson, Mo.; special cousins, Arlin and Joyce Wright of Bedford, Pa., David and Lynn Wright, also of Bedford, Pa., and Cynthia Wright and husband Col. Joseph Fraundorfer and their daughter Chaila of Bethesda, Md., and Joseph and Chaila Fraundorfer, also of Bethesda, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, Md., with the Rev. Richard H. Jewell officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 30.

Interment will be private at the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Osterburg, Pa.
