HAGERSTOWN -- A Hagerstown man charged with sexually abusing a child had his case transferred to Washington County Circuit Court after a preliminary hearing Thursday in Washington County District Court.

District Judge Mark Thomas found probable cause to have the case against Robert P. Hade, 42, moved to Circuit Court for trial. Hade is charged with sex abuse of a minor as a continuing course of conduct, sex abuse of a minor, second-degree sexual assault, third-degree sexual assault and second-degree assault, according to the statement of charges in the case.

Hade is accused of abusing the girl in 2004 and 2005 when she was under the age of 10, according to the statement of probable cause filed by the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The alleged abuse was reported to authorities in May by a relative of the girl, the statement said.

The incidents of alleged abuse occurred at Hade's home on several occasions, documents show. Hade allegedly showed the girl pornographic videos, gave her a sex toy and had sexual contact with her, according to documents.

Investigators from the Sheriff's Office searched Hade's home and questioned him May 15, documents show. The search turned up a video tape showing pornographic images of Hade and the girl, according to documents.

Hade has been in the Washington County Detention Center since his arrest May 15. His bail was originally set at $150,000, but Thomas raised it to $250,000 at a bail review hearing May 16.
