Joint police operation on I-81 leads to charges against 20

Twenty people were stopped on Interstate 81 earlier this month and charged with such infractions as illegal drug and motor vehicle violations during a joint operation between the Washington County Sheriff's Office and Maryland State Police, a sheriff's office press release said.

The operation ran from June 8 to June 10 and targeted excessive speed, unsafe vehicle operation and vehicle equipment violations, according to the release.

Some of the drugs that were seized included cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy, the release said.
