Foxville, Md. - Ray Samuel Brandenburg Jr., 86, of Tower Road, Foxville, passed away Friday, June 11, 2010, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born Oct. 10, 1923, in Foxville, he was the son of the late Ray Samuel Brandenburg Sr. and Rae (Hauver) Brandenburg.
He was a graduate of Thurmont High School, class of 1940.
He was a farmer, was employed by Fairchild Aircraft of Hagerstown, substitute postal carrier for the Lantz route and retired from Mack Trucks of Hagerstown in 1987.
He was a member of the local United Auto Workers 171 and attended Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Smithsburg.
He was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret M. (Swope) Brandenburg, whom he married June 20, 1942; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Brandenburg of Foxville; grandson, Jason Roth of Hagerstown; sisters, Betty Burgee of New Market, Carolyn Fishack of Frederick, and Nancy Brandenburg and Julia Brandenburg, both of Foxville; brothers, Harold "Bill" Brandenburg Sr. of Hagerstown, Eugene Brandenburg of Baltimore and Arthur Brandenburg of Foxville; and several nieces and nephews.
