TCU, Schlossnagle heading to CWS

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Smithsburg High School graduate Jim Schlossnagle, head coach at Texas Christian University, is taking his team to the College World Series for the first time.

Aaron Schultz hit a two-run home run to help TCU beat Texas 4-1 Sunday.

The Horned Frogs scored (51-12) the first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth when Jason Coats hit an RBI single off Brandon Workman (12-2) down the first-base line to score Taylor Featherson who hit a leadoff double and advanced to third on a throwing error.

Kyle Winkler (12-2) gave up no runs and five hits with five strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings for the Horned Frogs.

South Carolina 10, Coastal Carolina 9

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Christian Walker hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning Sunday to lead South Carolina over Coastal Carolina and into the College World Series.


The Gamecocks (48-15) trailed 9-7 when Jackie Bradley Jr. drew a two-out walk and Adrian Morales followed with a double off the wall in left. Walker, a freshman, followed with a shot into the stands in left for his seventh homer.

Coastal Carolina (55-10) came into the NCAA super regional series with the nation's most victories, the No. 4 overall seed and a dynamic offense poised for its first berth in Omaha.

Smithsburg graduate Josh Conway did not play on Sunday for Coastal.

Oklahoma 10, Virginia 7

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Cody Reine homered twice and drove in five runs and Oklahoma beat Virginia to force a third game in the Charlottesville Super Regional.

The teams will meet tonight, with the winner heading to the College World Series.

Branden Kline, of Frederick, Md. (Thomas Johnson) is expected to start for Virginia.
