HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - John J. Dyson, 68, of Hedgesville, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at City Hospital.

Born on Sept. 5, 1941 in Nanty Glo, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Hilda (Nealen) Dyson.

He served four years in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, where he was an avid classical guitarist.

He worked at Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown, Pa.; Beckett Aviation in McKeesport, Pa.; and for the Federal Aviation Administration. He was an officer in the Civil Air Patrol in Martinsburg, and also was an experienced private pilot.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 43 years, Shirley (Brown) Dyson; six sons, Capt. John R. Dyson and wife Michelle of Easton, Md.; Lt. Col. Douglas S. Dyson and wife Jean of Fredericksburg, Va.; Eric J. Dyson and wife Heather of Fairmont, W.Va.; Lt. Commander Victor K. Dyson and wife Jennifer of Lovettsville, Va.; Chief Spencer C. Dyson and wife Amber of Fort Orchard, Wash.; and Tech Sgt. Randall C. Dyson of Martinsburg; two brothers, Roger and Curtis Dyson of Ohio; and two sisters, Gloria Greene and Marjorie Dyson, both of Mundy's Corner, Pa.


He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and a special cousin, Priscilla Kozorosky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 14, 2010, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Martinsburg, with Father Michael Cavanaugh celebrating.

Interment will be private.

Friends will be received on Sunday, June 13, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
