Zumba classes

Zumba classes are forming at Christ's Reformed Church at 130 W. Franklin St. in Hagerstown.

Zumba is an aerobic dance exercise done to Latin rhythms.

Two six-week sessions are offered:

o Monday, July 19, to Monday, Aug. 23, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

o Wednesday, July 21, to Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

The program costs $30 per person per session or $55 for both sessions.

Comedy tour

On Friday, June 18, the Make Me Laugh Comedy Tour will come to Hagerstown beginning at 9 p.m. at the Georgia Boyz Cafe at 325 Virginia Ave. in Hagerstown.


The show stars C.J. Burney, Lisa Lanham, Cory Monroe and Lonnie Davis. The event will be hosted by Chad Beadle.

Tickets cost $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Blood drive

On Thursday, July 29, the Potomac Center will host a Red Cross summer blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Potomac Center is at 1360 Marshall St. in Hagerstown.

SHHS golf tournament

The eighth annual South Hagerstown High School Benefit Golf Tournament will be Thursday, June 17, at Beaver Creek Country Club, starting at 8:30 a.m.

Lunch will be provided at the completion of golf and before the awards ceremony featuring Phil Petry's barbecue.

The tournament costs $300 for foursomes or $75 per golfer. Entry forms are available at Beaver Creek Country Club or online at

Sponsorships are available from $10 to $300.

The purpose of the tournament is to raise money for the scholarship programs for the Alumni Association as well as the Athletic Boosters Club. Both groups offer scholarships for graduating boys and girls at South High.
