Sheetz store in Williamsport robbed at gunpoint

June 10, 2010

WILLIAMSPORT -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office was investigating an armed robbery just after midnight today at the Sheetz at 100 E. Potomac St. in Williamsport.

The robbery was called in at 12:03 a.m.

A man wearing a white bandana or scarf with a black design entered the store, pulled a small handgun and demanded cash, Lt. Mark Knight of the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.

The man fled on foot with cash, Knight said. No shots were fired and there were no injuries, he said.

The robber was described as a white man, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, Knight said. He was wearing a blue hooded sweat shirt, he said.

A police dog team was called in, but was unsuccessful in tracking the robber, Knight said.

Maryland State Police and the Hagerstown Police Department assisted sheriff's deputies in the effort to find the man, he said.
