Helen P. Manious, 97, of 55 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village, Hagerstown.

Born Monday, Nov. 25, 1912, in Big Pool, Md., she was the daughter of the late John L. Gerhart and the late Daisy D. Zimmerman Gerhart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Manious, in 1987.

She was employed with Peoples Drug Store No. 46, retiring after 22 years. Prior to that, she was employed with L'Aiglon Apparel and Hagerstown Shoe Co.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Beverly D. Canby of Sparks, Md., Marlene E. Russell of Hagerstown and Carole A. Billmeyer of Funkstown, Md.; three sisters, Hilda Draper of Hagerstown, Ruth Funkhouser of Waynesboro, Pa., and Evelyn Stolz of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, James R. Canby III, Michael F. Billmeyer, Todd Andrew Canby and Mark C. Russell; and four great-grandchildren, Dalton Canby, Logan Canby, Benjamin Canby and Olivia Canby.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Genevieve Mummert, Nellie Eyler, Blanche Anders, Ruby Frush, Laura M. Whitmer and Catherine Gourley; and two great-granddaughters, Canby twins.

Services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Clark D. Carr officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
