Mail Call

June 08, 2010

"I'm calling about the article that was in the paper from Boonsboro, about the person who said the Democratic Party has an agenda that they believe is good for the majority of all people. Laugh out loud."

- Williamsport

"I would really like your feedback on this. I know someone who attended and was very involved in a church. They had a disagreement with one of the pastors that was not church-related. All of the people that I thought were her best friends - and not just good friends, but best friends - will not talk to her or have anything to do with her because they said that they couldn't be best friends because she questioned their leader. I always thought your leader was much higher than this person."

- Hagerstown

"Obama, this oil spill is gonna be your Katrina, tenfold. But where is the media at, the liberal media?"

"In reference to British Petroleum giving Obama a large donation for his campaign, and why it took him five weeks to see the destruction: You don't bite the hand that fed you."

- Hagerstown

"Another great idea from the Obama administration. While British Petroleum is working 24/7 to stop the oil flowing into the Gulf, distract them with a politically motivated legal witch hunt. Great going, guys."

- Smithsburg

"I was reading in the Mail Call about these people talking about these people wearing their ball caps on backwards, and the only reason I believe that they wear their hats backwards, because ... they don't know whether they're coming or going."

- Washington County

"I was out working in my yard early this morning and I noticed the traffic from one of the local schools was going slow. ... Usually they're just flying through my neighborhood. I went out front and looked up the street and people were actually stopping at the stop sign. And then I saw why. There was a city policeman parked up the road a little ways. This is the first time in ages that people have stopped at that stop sign. I'd just like to publicly thank the city police for monitoring that area this morning. I will call them later today and thank them personally."

- Hagerstown

"I'm responding to the Hagerstown correctional officer. You mentioned you are sickened by the fact you will not be getting a pay raise this year or next. I have four words for you: Welcome to the recession."

- Cavetown

"I, too, think wearing a baseball cap backward - unless, of course, you're a baseball catcher - looks stupid, but since it appears to be merely a harmless fad and it doesn't involve anything that could even remotely be construed as indecent exposure or public obscenity, it's no business of mine or anyone else if people want to do it. It's their head, after all. I just wish you self-appointed fashion police would confine your rules and criticism to those people you're responsible for, and otherwise, mind your own business."

- Frederick, Md.

"This is mind-boggling. Several weeks ago ... we were sitting at a red light on North Potomac at East Avenue when we observed a lady in a ... pickup truck use her inhaler, and before the light turned green, she lit a cigarette. Some people just don't get it, do they?"

- Hagerstown

"I was just curious as to when you can consider the stink bugs a problem and when it's an infestation. We've been keeping track, and we've gotten as many as 106 a day and I was just wondering what the other people, how many they have and what their problem is."

- Smithsburg

"This is for: Hi, Sen. Munson. Nice to see you at the Boonsboro parade. Also, I forgot to ask you about traffic lights at Route 67 and Alt. 40. I'm sitting here right now. I almost saw two accidents happen from people coming down the hill. See what you can do. Take care."

- Rohrersville

"If you are a recent widower, I would like to alert you to the fact of a fraudulent phone call I received from a person alleging to be a representative of card services and requesting information on my charge card; particularly, the numbers on the back of the card, which should never, ever be given out. That entitles them to charge anywhere by phone. This is very prevalent. Make sure you know who you're talking to and don't give any information at all."

- Hagerstown
