School's out cookout



For youngsters entering grades four through new grads, a school's out cookout will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boonsboro on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Library news



The Boonsboro Free Library will offer the following programs:

o "Our Amazing Sun" and solar observation will be presented by Mike Sager on Saturday. The first hour-long session begins at 11 a.m. and the second is at 1 p.m. The program is for adults and those ages 6 and older. Choose a time to learn about the sun and to safely view solar features using a special telescope (weather permitting).

o "Custer's Last Stand: What Really Happened?" will take place Tuesday, June 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Local author and historian Warren Gray will outline the myths and mysteries of the Battle of the Little Bighorn. It is a detailed reconstruction told from the perspectives of both sides to determine the truth based on factual evidence. Light refreshments will be served.

o The Friends group of Washington County Library is offering two free foreign-language classes this summer at the Boonsboro Library.

The classes are for students entering grades three to six.

The first class is Japanese culture to be held June 21 to 25 from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

The second class is French, offered from June 28 to July 2 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. For more information, call 301-432-5723.

Vacation Bible schools



The following vacation Bible schools will be held:

o The Beaver Creek community will hold Vacation Bible School June 21 to 25, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at Beaver Creek Christian Church, 9711 Beaver Creek Church Road east of Hagerstown. The theme is "Son Quest Rainforest."

It is for those in preschool to grade 12.

It is sponsored by Beaver Creek Christian Church, Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren and St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.

o New Covenant Fellowship Church, at the corner of Breathedsville and Manor Church roads in Fairplay, will host VBS from June 21 to 25 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m.

The theme is "Son Force Kids - God's Special Agents."

It will include Bible stories, crafts and surprises for those ages 3 to sixth grade.

Class of 1975



The Boonsboro High School class of 1975 will hold its 35th reunion with a get-together at the home of Lisa Rihard on Friday, July 30, starting at 6 p.m.

There will be a picnic on Saturday, July 31, at noon in Shafer Park's pavillon No. 1. The class will provide meat, drinks and paper products. Please bring a dish to share. There will be games and door prizes.
