The chapter benefited from a presentation by Yvonne titled "Ten Commandments of Great Nutrition." This included a recap of many weight-loss tips that members already know, but need to be reminded of from time to time, plus some new thoughts to consider.

The "thinner winner" had a loss of 7.8 pounds, but wishes to remain anonymous. Gary wishes to share that he had a 3.4-pound loss this week, making a total of 20 1/4 pounds in the last six weeks. Linda was welcomed as a visitor.

Oct. 23 is the date of the TOPS Fall Rally, an activity to put on the calendar and plan to attend. Janet has made presentations on Awards Day, the second week of each month, but she has now "passed the torch" to Cynthia, who will also do a great job.

Meetings are held on Wednesdays, 9:30 to 10:30, weigh-in at 8:45 a.m., at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road, Hagerstown. For more information, call Mary or Tom at 301-797-2547, or Judy at 301-739-9279.

TOPS Chapter 77 met Tuesday of last week due to Memorial Day. Total losses were 23 pounds. The best TOPS losers were Joan Gilbert, Joann Little and Millie Toms. The best KOPS losers were Janice Frye and Judy Purdham.

Gilbert won the Get-R-Done prize for a 3-pound loss. Susie Sword received an award for achieving a 30-pound weight loss. Frye gave her KOPS Kitty to Dina Norris and Louise Horst gave hers to Maida Law. The no-no snack for the week is cake and Audrey Smith won the Ha! Ha! Prize. The secret pal exchange will be suspended for the summer months and restarted in the fall.

This month's contest is "June is Bust'n Out All Over." The program this week was open discussion. Topics included future program topics and speakers, future events and a focused discussion on health issues, particularly heart health and disease.

Future events include: today, No Gain Monday; June 14, awards, T-shirt day and yellow rose ceremony; June 21, in-house yard sale; and fall rally on Oct. 23 (location to be announced).

The group meets Mondays at First Christian Church on Potomac Avenue. For more information, call Donna at 240-527-5436 or Patsy at 301-582-2292.

For the past three weeks, the group has been doing a program called "mindful eating." Marie Stover did the program the first week. June Stalin's program the second week was "savor each bite," practicing mindful eating. Lois Wolford closed with "thanks, an attitude of gratitude."

Awards and certificates were given to the following people for 10 weeks of perfect attendance: Marie Stover, Lisa King, Lois Wolford and Virginia Rodgers. Recording losses over Easter were Rachel Clipp and Lois Wolford. Tops best loser for March was June Stalins. TOPS best loser for April was Nancy Kruger, Kops best loser, June Stalins (she had just reached her Kops goal). And Judy T. For losing over vacations. Our best losers for May 28 were Fanny Crawford and her daughter Clipp, for Tops and Kops was Mary Stuller.

The "No-No" for the week was french fries. Members who ate them added a quarter to the jar for each time they ate them. Stover's name was drawn from the "Ha Ha" jar but she could not claim the money because she had a small gain. Meetings are at Christ Lutheran Church, 216 N. Cleveland Ave. Weigh in is from 4:45 until 5:45 p.m. Meeting is from 6 to 7 p.m. Call June at 301-582-4821 or Virginia at 301-733-1296.

The program speaker for the Longmeadow Lions Club meeting on Thursday will be Clear Spring Lion Dan Fleming. Fleming will discuss his travels through six European countries, visiting key battle sites of World War II. He will share little-known information about the war and the soldiers who fought it.
