Casino going Hollywood, set to introduce table games July 2

June 07, 2010

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- Charles Town Races & Slots is getting a Hollywood-style facelift.

The Jefferson County, W.Va., horse-racing track and casino plans to roll out a new name -- Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races -- and begin to introduce table games to guests starting July 2.

The rebranded Hollywood Casino will add table games to the approximately 5,000 slot machines and year-round thoroughbred racing already available at the property.

The rebranding brings extensive renovations to the gaming floor that will invoke 1930s art-deco Hollywood, according to a news release.

The latest audio-visual technology also will be featured, such as a giant serpentine video wall that projects first-run movie trailers and video shorts that greet players at the main entrance. Plasma screens and video trees will be added throughout the casino for guests to enjoy as they play.

Several table games areas, including high-limit and party-pit areas, will be added to the casino floor, offering a total of 85 tables. Twelve types of table games are featured, including blackjack, craps, roulette, mini baccarat and Pai Gow poker, among others. A 27-table poker room is expected to be open at that time, the release states.

"We're adding substantially to the variety of entertainment we offer our guests," Al Britton, general manager of Charles Town Races & Slots, said in the release. "For years, Atlantic City was the region's only table games option for players in the Washington/Baltimore markets and the Tri-State area. Now we're able to offer a first-class casino destination with tables that is not only more convenient, but extends a high-quality experience to guests that is marked by the red-carpet service we deliver at Charles Town."
