St. Mark's Church to celebrate Evensong

The choirs of St. Mark's Episcopal Church will join in a Festive Evensong Sunday evening at 5 to celebrate the ministry of music.

Children, youth and adults will be commissioned as "Ministers of Music" and St. Mark's will be recognized as a new member of the Royal School of Church Music.

The service includes hymns, anthems, a duet by two of the youth choir members, prayers and an organ prelude and postlude played on the Moller organ in the church.


The Evensong is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken to support the music ministries of the church.

Museum to sponsor garden tour June 12

The Rural Heritage Museum at Washington County Agricultural Education Center will sponsor the Washington County Garden Tour on Saturday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tickets cost $10 per person and are available the day of the tour at any participating garden. Parking is available onsite. Six featured gardens are available to visit throughout the day. Choose any garden site to start and enjoy the day traveling throughout the county.

Potters to hold festival

Potters Allison Severance and Blair Meerfeld will hold an artisan sale at 18839 Manor Church Road, Boonsboro, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Severance and Meerfeld will present a new line of kitchen pots, including bean pots, bakers, casseroles, butter and cheese keepers, honey pots and large centerpiece bowls. Other handcrafted items from artisans will be available.

Food will be available by Cookie's Cooking Co. on Saturday. Flute music will be performed by Cara Cline Price on Sunday afternoon. The event is free.

Church to hold fundraising dinner

Benevola United Methodist Church, at 9925 Benevola Church Road in Boonsboro, will host a Volunteer in Mission Fundraising Dinner on Saturday, June 12, from 3 to 7 p.m. The buffet-style dinner will include chicken potpie, ham, corn, beans, salads, rolls, cakes and drinks. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for those ages 3 to 10. Money raised will go toward the July trip to Nicaragua.
